My name is Mickey Horvath and I am the host of the podcast called “The Career Guy” which resides on this website called “The Career Guy”.

The premise of the podcast is for me as the host to interview guests and let them share their stories about their careers. The guests provide information about how they got into their careers; the type of education they pursued; what skills they needed and how they developed them; what their career looks like now; what their day looks like; what they have learned; and more importantly for the listener, what would they pass on to others that are considering something similar or who are just simply unsure. In essence, it is a place where the listener can get a feel for or more insight into the various careers people have.

During my employment of 31 years at the University of Calgary (I am retired now), I have worked with many students both graduate and undergraduate in sciences and engineering.  During my endeavor at the university, I have completed a degree in IT and an MBA where I developed my interests regarding post-secondary education and career development. I am a certified strength trainer as well and have competed as a Natural Bodybuilder.  I am a voracious reader especially biographies and psychology, I am very interested in what motivates people.

I believe that we all can accomplish so much more than we give ourselves credit for. We all have so many opportunities in front of us, it is just a matter of finding the right fit. With this website and the podcast my intent is to help others find or discover their passion or at least set them on a path that will help them find it. And above all this can be a resource that will help to motivate others which we all need at times.
